Ever wake up from a dream so vivid, so painfully real, that it lingers long after your eyes open? The surreal kind that pulls you into a memory you thought you buried, or leaves you in tears—of joy, of grief, or of something in between. A dream so sharp your heart reacts before your mind remembers where you are. Dreams have a way of reaching into places we don’t always visit when we’re awake.
This morning, I woke up with that heavy, sinking feeling. In my dream, I had just lost someone I loved deeply. For a few quiet, disorienting seconds, I couldn’t tell what was real. Then it hit me—we actually said goodbye to him over a decade ago. But the ache? Fresh and immediate. As though yesterday had folded itself into today.
It reminded me of all the mornings I’ve woken up like that. Some say dreams replay fragments of past events. Others believe they are visions or cautionary warnings meant to guide our steps. I’m convinced it can be both.
About six weeks ago, I woke from another unsettling dream. A very good friend of mine—someone who stands boldly in her own spotlight, doing good for humanity—was being roasted, grilled like she’d committed some terrible crime. I don’t recall what I was thinking before I fell asleep, but I remember exactly how I felt when I woke up: horrified, protective, and deeply reflective.
Because here’s the truth: when it comes to judging others, many of us are quick to forget the biblical logs in our own eyes. We leap forward with opinions we should have cooked a little longer before serving.

And lately—well, honestly, throughout history—many of us have come across stories of how quickly society can turn on someone, subjecting them to gruelling scrutiny. One mistake, one criticism, one misstep, and suddenly all the right things they ever did become invisible. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry feels entitled to an opinion, even when they have no understanding of the situation.
But let’s be real: who among us hasn’t been on either side of that table? We live in a world where we are so quick to judge and slow to forgive. Compassion sometimes feels like an afterthought. We forget that the same measure we use on others could one day be used on us—shaken, pressed down, and poured right back with interest.
So here’s the challenge—yes, a challenge.
Choose differently.
Choose to pause before assuming.
Choose to ask questions before forming opinions.
Choose to spend less time theorizing and more time seeking facts.
Choose to treat missteps as lessons, not weapons—and search for the good inside.
Because if we all did that—even a little—we’d create a world that feels safer, softer, and far more human.
Let’s focus on the good and encourage each other instead of circling like vultures waiting to pounce on someone’s small mistake.
Dreams may not always be literal, but they often reveal truths we overlook in daylight. And sometimes, they remind us—quietly but powerfully—that kindness, empathy, and perspective aren’t accidental. They’re choices we have to make over and over again.
Make that choice today.

True indeed. Thank you 😍!
A powerful reminder that understanding begins when we pause, question, and seek the truth. Sometimes, choosing differently changes everything. Great piece, Dr June.
Appreciated George.
the world would indeed be a better place if we weren’t so quick to judge 🙏.

June, thank you for sending this blog to me. I enjoyed reading and I would say it is wisely written. We sure criticize and judge others too quickly, without pausing to ask questions. I will like to follow you so I can have access to your blogs. Good job.
Thank you so much Caroline. I truly appreciate your kind words. I am working on getting better on social media so I’ll try to post the blogs on IG and fb as well. Keep an eye out😉.
